World War 2 Documentary

D-Day, June 6th 1944 – footage

This is a documentary I made about D-Day for my 8th grade school project. It goes through the planning, execution, and impact of that monumental day. In relation to the “largest invasion force question” I based the fact off of this military website: www.militaryhistoryonline.com
Video Rating: 4 / 5

My Parents who both survived WW2 lived in the Netherlands in Arnhem where the border of Germany lies, On D-Day The American Soldiers did what they could but were too late , It was the CANADIAN SOLDIERS & THE BRITSH SOLDIERS who took over the banks the Canadian Soldiers Drove their Tanks into Arnhem & down the main streets to tell the people in the villages that the war was over !!
My father spoke of the many reasons they came to Canada 1n 1958 also they never forget & greatful for all soldiers

The Dutch people were so Thankful & filled with Joy many cried openly climbing on the tanks to hug the Canadian Soldiers brought Coffee and other rations to share & were so equally happy ! My Mother was a nurse she Cried every time she’d spoke of this Day !! Mom wasn’t a sentimental person & rarely spoke of the Hell & suffering everyone went through !! one reason many Dutch people don’t respect or like Americans & they’re not welcomed by many in Netherlands, this I know,I’ve lived in Holland.

The Americans are Viewed as “Patriotic Know it All Mouth Pieces” who live to take all the credit , and even now many of the Dutch people feel that Americans speak too highly of,” How Great America/ns is “!! The Soldiers who visit The Netherlands many times will wear the Canadian Flag in stead of a American Flag because they know they are not particularly favored in the least or liked , in many small villages the older generation won’t have anything to do with anyone who is an American.

The first thing I was asked by my boyfriends Parents when I was introduced was ” are you American ” ? !! If I had said yes , I wouldn’t have been allowed in their home .So believe it or not , what I am writing isn’t just what I’d heard or was told , it’s what I’d seen & experienced many times during the 3 years of living in The Netherlands and also having my parents & their friends, when I asked questions about what it was like these are the facts of what they’d seen and lived through.

At 1.55 the commentary says the invasion had to be at “High Tide”. That is incorrect. It was at LOW tide so that the obstacles the Nazis had put on the beaches could be seen and avoided. Had they gone in at high tide, the bottom of the boats would have been ripped open on the obstacles and mines attached to them.

Sorry, There is no way a 14 year old made this as a school project.

I’d bet he plagarised the footage/animations and story then added his own voice

The first line of this doc “d day was the largest invasion force in history” is wrong. Their are many many larger. I think what you meant to say was the largest amphibious invasion.?. Im sorry but I can not watch a doc thats starts off with a massive misstak like that. God day.

it still amazes me that so may ordinary people fought and died in WW2, and its a shame were moving to the point were there will be no living survivors, god bless every soul lost
